SeventyEject
Eject every external drive, safely, in one click.
SeventyEject safely ejects all your external drives (SSDs, USB sticks, SD cards) with a single click, from the app window or the menu bar icon. Time Machine disks are detected and left alone by « Eject all »: they carry a green badge and are only ejected on request. If macOS is holding a drive back, the app says so clearly instead of failing silently. No system permission required. Free 7-day trial.

Frequently asked questions
Why eject a drive properly instead of just unplugging it?
Unplugging a drive without ejecting it can corrupt data still being written, especially on non-journaled formats like FAT32 or exFAT (USB sticks, SD cards). A clean eject makes sure every pending write finishes before access is cut, which also protects the lifespan of external SSDs.
A drive resists ejection, what do I do?
SeventyEject tells you clearly instead of failing silently: "macOS is holding this drive back (file still open?)". Close any Finder windows, documents, or apps still using that drive, then try again. As a last resort, macOS's Disk Utility offers a forced unmount.
Does it work with a Time Machine drive?
Yes, and it is handled with care. SeventyEject recognizes a Time Machine destination and gives it a green badge in the list. « Eject all » leaves it alone by default, so a single global click never interrupts a backup. You can still eject it from its own row: the app asks for confirmation, and refuses outright while a backup is being written. The « Never eject Time Machine disks » setting can be turned off if you prefer the previous behaviour.
Is there a quick way without opening the window?
Yes. The menu bar icon ejects every drive with a left click, or lets you pick one specific drive from the menu (right click). Handy right before closing the lid or heading out with your Mac.
What's the difference between the website version and the App Store one?
It's the same app. On this website: a free 7-day trial, then a 3.90 CHF one-time license with automatic updates. On the App Store: direct purchase, updates through Apple. Pick whichever suits you.
